Executive Barber’s Camp

Purpose

This Accountability Plan ensures that each board member of Executive Barber’s Camp understands their role, meets expectations, and is held responsible for their contributions to the organization’s mission, governance, and long-term success.

1. Commitment to the Mission

Board members are expected to actively support and promote the mission, vision, and values of Barber’s Camp. Responsibilities: Advocate for the organization in personal and professional networks Stay informed about the camp’s programs, impact, and goals Uphold and model the core values of empowerment, mentorship, and excellence

2. Meeting Participation

Active participation in meetings is crucial to effective governance and strategic oversight. Expectations: Attend a minimum of 75% of scheduled board meetings annually Notify the Chair in advance if unable to attend Come prepared, having reviewed the agenda and materials Engage respectfully and contribute constructively

3. Committee Involvement

Board members must participate in at least one standing or ad-hoc committee based on their expertise and interest. Expectations: Attend committee meetings regularly Complete assigned tasks and follow through on commitments Contribute to committee goals and planning

4. Fundraising & Financial Support

All board members play a role in securing resources for the organization. Expectations: Make a personal, meaningful annual financial contribution ("give") Participate in fundraising events, campaigns, and donor outreach Leverage personal and professional networks to identify supporters ("get") Assist with grant leads, sponsorships, or donor introductions when possible

5. Community Engagement

Board members serve as ambassadors for Barber’s Camp. Expectations: Attend at least one camp event or program annually Promote the organization through social media, events, or speaking engagements Build relationships with stakeholders, partners, and the community

6. Ethics & Conduct Board members are expected to uphold the highest standards of ethical behavior. Expectations: Avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any potential conflicts immediately Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information Respect the organization’s policies, bylaws, and code of conduct

7. Annual Self-Assessment Each board member will participate in an annual self-review to reflect on their contributions and identify areas for improvement.

Includes:

Self-assessment checklist (attendance, giving, participation)

One-on-one check-in with the Board Chair or Governance Committee

Opportunity to set personal goals for the upcoming year
